The Seven Church Ages - 29. The Parable of the Dragnet

Matthew 13:47 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, 48 which, when it was full, they drew it close to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

51 Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?"

52 Then He said to them, "Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old."

In the parable of the dragnet we are looking at the second coming of Jesus Christ. A dragnet, unlike a fishing line, gathers all fish of all kinds. Likewise, the harvesters at the end of the age will gather all mankind, both good and bad into the harvest.

In Matthew 24:31 Jesus tells us that when He comes, He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds of Heaven. In the parable of the tares, the angels of our Lord are likened to the reapers, who will first gather the tares (who are the children of the devil) and bind them into bundles to burn them, but the wheat (the children of God) will be gathered into God's barn (for the wedding feast of Jesus Christ, the bridegroom to the Church, the bride of Christ).

In the parable of the goats and the sheep, all people from all nations are gathered before Jesus, the Son of Man who separates them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. Then to the righteous Jesus says, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." While to the wicked He says, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels." At the end of the age, the wicked will be taken away to everlasting punishment, but the righteous will enter into eternal life. (Matthew 25:31 - 46)

In the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Understand this! All mankind, every man, woman and child has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard of righteousness, and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire is the just penalty for your sin, but God, your loving Father does not want this for you. This is why God the Father, sent Jesus, God the Son, to die on the cross for your sins.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."

Luke24:46  Then Jesus Christ said to them, "Thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins (the forgiveness of sins) should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Mark16:15 And Jesus Christ said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 he who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these sign will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

On the day of Pentecost those who heard the preaching of Peter and wanting to be saved, asked Peter and the apostles,

Acts2:37  - - - - - - - "Men and brethren , what shall we do?" 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (the forgiveness of sins); and you shall received the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and your children, and to all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

These promises given to us by God in His written word were not just for 2,000 years ago. They are also for all of us who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call. If you have read this book, God, today is calling you to repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, the forgiveness of sins, and you shall be saved, set free from sin, born again into the kingdom of God, and filled with the Holy Spirit who will guide you into all truth, and your life will never be the same again.
