19. DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS.
As we continue with our look at the seven churches, it would be so easy for us to point our condemning the finger at the church down the road, but that is not the point of this exercise. God is very well able to deal with His church down the road without your help, thank you very much.
Luke6:37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
We need to focus on our own church, but firstly, and more importantly we need to focus on our-self. First ask God to help you remove the leaven and Satan from your own life. Jesus said, “First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye” (Matthew 7:5).
There is no denying that idolatry (the worshiping of and praying to the saints) was a major problem in the Church during the dark ages, and idolatry is still a major problem in much of the Church to this day. However, before you even think of taking over Satan's job of condemning those who bow down to statues and icons of Mary and the saints, remember God’s word likens stubborn rebellion as witchcraft and idolatry. We stubborn rebellious Protestants need to first take the plank out of our own eye, so we can then see more clearly to remove the speck from our brother’s eye.
It was stubborn rebellion that lead to the fall of Satan. It was stubborn rebellion that lead to the original fall of mankind, and throughout history it as been stubborn rebellion that has lead time and time again to the fall of the God’s people, and kept generation after generation of the worlds children under the oppression of the devil.
If you are stubborn and rebellious against God and against any God-given authority, then you need to repent of your evil ways and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. If you will not repent you are not a child of God; you are a child of Satan and on Judgement Day you will be condemned and cast into the lake of fire. If we who are leaders in the church, at both local and national level, don’t confront stubborn rebellion in our own church we will be judged a wicked and unprofitable servant and will be cast into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 25:14 – 30).
