28. Unity / In the Love of God. - Receiving & Believing.

To which you replied,

“So, what is truth to obtain unity?”

Having spent some time since seeking God’s understanding and wisdom to answer this question. I have come to see that it is not so much through one truth revealed that we obtain unity, but rather that by receiving and believing a number of truths we obtain unity.

Truth to obtain and maintain unity, can be likened to a diamond being viewed from many different angles.

From the moment we are born again we are in unity with Christ and with the Church, the body of Christ. For no other reason than we have been born as a child into the family of God.

We were born again, when we with childlike faith first received and believed.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, (as Christ our Lord and deliverer) to them he gave the authority (or the right) to become the children of God, to them that believe in his name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

When a child of flesh is born into this earthly world, he is born in unity with his natural family. Then over time the child, under the guidance and direction of his father, mother and teachers, he grows into the fullness of family unity and unity with society. Then when the child is of age he is declared an adult and obtains the fullness of unity.

As it is in the natural so it spiritual.

When we come to Jesus Christ, God the Son, we must come with childlike faith, receiving and believing and him as our Lord and Deliverer. Then we will receive the right to become a child of God.

Everything we receive in the kingdom of God is received by receiving with childlike faith, then believing. The world wants to see, know and understand before they will believe, but God tells us to first receive with childlike faith, then you will believe.

God first loved us; we received his love; then believed.

Matthew 18:1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom above? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, truly I say unto you, except you turn, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom above. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom above.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, truly, truly, I say unto you, except a man be born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus said unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said to you, you must be born again. 8 The Spirit breathes where it wills, and you hear his voice, but cannot tell from where he comes, and where he goes: so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

As we receive and believe, we receive even more faith to receive and believe the knowledge and understanding of the truths of the kingdom of God and the more by faith we receive and believe in the blessings of the kingdom.

Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For rule must be upon rule, rule upon rule; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

As long as we continue in faith receiving and believing more truths, we will continue to grow in faith, truth and unity. But the moment we cease from receiving and believing the truth, division comes.

Example 1: Some receive and believe in the truth of baptism, some do not. Thus we have division.

Example 2: Some of us accept the calling of prophets and apostles in this age, some do not. Thus we have division.

We could go on. What truth or truths do you or your church refuse to receive and believe in, causing division?

We could say that the truth to obtain unity is to be born again, but that is only the start of the journey towards the fullness of unity with Christ and each other.
