In bible days many temples were built of stone blocks, fitted together and laid one upon another. At the four corners of the building where two walls meet, upon the top of the two walls would be placed a stone, thus binding the two walls together. For those who have lifted up Jesus Christ in their lives, he has become the Head and Corner Cap Stone. While to those who have not lifted up Jesus Christ in their lives, he has become a stumbling block, over which they trip and fall.
1 Peter 2:6 Therefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, chosen and precious: and he that believes on him shall not be disgraced. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be unbelieving by choice, the stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the corner, 8 and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, to them which stumble at the word, being unbelieving: where unto also they were appointed.
